Preventive Health Behaviors

In the last year 85% of Greenvillians have seen a doctor for any reason, with a large percentage having a routine checkup. Almost all have checked their blood pressure, and two thirds have had a cholesterol screen. Over half of women have had a Pap smear or mammogram, and almost have of men have had a prostate exam.   The uninsured and underinsured are much less likely to access services.

Children's Preventive Health Behaviors

Most children have seen a doctor for any reason and for routine check-ups. Three out of four have seen a dentist in the last year.

Flu Vaccinations

Two-thirds of Greenvillians had a flu shot in the past twelve months, slightly higher than for South Carolina. The rate of flu shots has increased over the years.

59% of children see a dentist by age three, and almost one-third see a dentist by age one. Only 11% have not seen a dentist before their 6th birthday.
